qualifies for breeding in the SMCA Pine -
Here is Pine's evaluation from the SMCA: Pine is a very
strong athletic roan female with correct height. Her height to length ratio is
correct. She has very good bone and muscle mass. She has a feminine head with
correct proportions, nice high ear set and light to medium brown eyes. Her head
sets well above her back line with a long muscular neck. Her legs are under her
withers giving her very good front angulation with her front legs straight and
parallel and her feet have thick pads that are hare-like. Her chest depth,
length, width and tuck all very good. Her top line is straight and slopes
slightly to the rear. Her pelvis is a bit steep giving her a rounded rear and
low tail set. Her rear angulation is very good. She has a very wide thigh and
her hock height is correct. Her rear legs straight and parallel. Rear feet
straight and tight with thick pads that are hare-like. Pine's coat is dense and
her furnishings are very good. Lumpy’s
Emerald Green Pine NA I is a joy to be around. Her personality and temperament
compliment both her home life and field work. She is a gentle soul, getting
along with all dogs. She also has a strong desire to please, and wants to be
part of anything you are doing. This leads me to her field work. She has great
use of nose. She is outstanding at using the air, but also has great tracking
ability. Allowing her to locate and point birds effectively. She also has a
love of the water. Making her love of waterfowl shine. Pine is an outstanding all-around
dog. She is just one of those dogs that makes you smile no matter what she is
doing.
Lovec - (Lovec:
Czech for hunter, being Lovec’s sire is a Czech import), was whelped at Brush
Dale on 2/28/19 as part of the CC litter. Lovec’s sire is IntCh Dick Zimni Vrch
(Jaxon) and his dam is IntCh Brush Dale’s Brown-Eyed Girl (Tess). Lovec is
owned by Scott Green of Cokato, MN.
Lovec shares his home (and
Scott’s bed) with his older ½ brother Jager. Jager, Brush Dale’s Open Season is
from Tess also and comes from the O-litter. Lovec is affectionate and has a
couple of funny personality characteristics; every morning upon waking up,
Lovec likes to lick and nibble on one of Scott’s ears (his way of saying good
morning) and when really content while being petted or for belly rubs, Lovec
will doggie purr, it sounds like a deep chested soft growl (but he’s not
growling), and whenever he wants a little attention or an ear scratch, he puts
his paw on Scott’s hand or arm and stares at him.
Lovec has a very attractive,
medium dense, soft, dark roan coat, with nice furnishings. He weighs around 54
pounds and is average in height for a male Small Munsterlander per the Breed’s
FCI standard. Lovec has a beautiful flag for a tail – a required characteristic
of the breed. He has a nice masculine head, muzzle, and appropriately almond
shaped eyes. Everywhere Scott takes Lovec, people familiar with the Small
Munsterlander breed comment how Lovec is a beautiful example of a male Small Munsterlander
and people not familiar with the breed comment; what a beautiful dog. Lovec
received his International Championship in confirmation on April 10 th and 11
th of 2021. During that same weekend Lovec earned a “Best in Show Rare Breed
Adult” honor.
Scott is actively involved in
NAVHDA Testing and AKC Hunt Tests with both Lovec and Jager. Lovec earned a max
score of 112 and a Prize 1 at his Natural Ability test at age 15 months. Lovec
was easily ready much earlier, but Covid had an impact on when he could run his
test. Scott has trained and tested Jager (Lovec’s ½ brother at the highest
level of NAVHDA, the “Invitational” in September 2021 and requalified Jager for
his second Invitational in September 2022 in New Mexico. Scott is extremely confident
Lovec will be able to reach this same level of success within NAVHDA. In
addition, Scott will have Lovec actively involved in obtaining his AKC Hunting
Titles.
Like his mother (Tess) and ½
brother Jager, Lovec has a very high prey drive. This is the reason Scott wanted
a second pup from Tess. To go with the prey drive, Lovec has an excellent
off-switch while in the home. He loves to take naps on his bed or on Scott’s
feet, while Scott is working at his desk. Lovec and Jager do get a daily run
off leash every evening for approximately 45 minutes, this definitely helps with
the off-switch aspect.
Lovec is hunted on both upland
game birds and waterfowl. He’s hunted and retrieved; quail, pheasants, chukar,
sharptail, ruff grouse, and waterfowl in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota,
Montana, and Washington. In the field Lovec is a tireless, relentless, bird
finding machine. Lovec’s cooperation and obedience in the field allows him to
be an absolute joy to hunt with. He’s always quartered naturally back and forth
in front of Scott and periodically comes back to check-in and is regularly
making eye contact. He instinctively knows that they are a team in the field.
During the three seasons to
date, Lovec has retrieved 100% of the birds knocked down over him. He’s a natural
retriever; in addition, he’s been trained to retrieve into the heel position,
sit, and then presents the bird. Retrieving waterfowl out of a boat is
something to witness, Lovec literally launches himself off the side, back or
off the motor to start the retrieve. (He Loves It)! A couple of upland
retrieves in particular stand out to Scott; at 7 months, on the Iowa pheasant
opener, Scott knocked down a rooster, Lovec got a good mark, but the rooster
was running. Scott was able to watch Lovec’s track/retrieve via his GPS collar.
The distance away reached 185 yards before Lovec started back. The rooster was
still alive when Lovec delivered to Scott’s hand. Scott knew at that point that
he had a great natural retrieving dog. The second sequence happened the fall of
2021 during a Montana hunting trip. Lovec is now 2 ½, a friend knocked down a
rooster, but no dog saw the bird fall. Lovec was delivered to the spot and
given the “Dead Bird” command. Again, using the GPS collar the track and
retrieve was watched. This time the distance went out to 365 yards, with the
bird retrieved to hand.
To make hunting trips even
more enjoyable, Lovec rides extremely well in the vehicle. He’s made multiple
trips to Dallas, TX, Spokane, WA, and many others of great distance. In
addition, Lovec and Jager generally go with Scott every where in his truck. The
exception to the rule of doing well in the vehicle is when the tires hit
gravel, the whining and excitedness reach a high level, only because that means
one thing – “Its Bird Hunting Time”. All puppies receive age appropriate vaccinations and worming, along with a certified vet inspection.
